It is really Fall here, Friends. Everything is changing and dropping and it is raining and I don't know if all of these peppers in the garden are going to turn orange or red before they rot off the plants, but the weather is making it easier to get to school and settle into a fall rountine. Back to the presses! Back to the pens! Back to your printers!
It is a really special bundle this month, with a lot of letterpress work in it. The art on the envelope is by Roy Paul Nelson and came to me in a collection of his illustrations courtesy of Ivan D. Snyder, who also helps with every single mailing. They are three separate illustrations that I tried to arrange to look like our collective desktops, except that in real life my coffee cup always seems to be empty.
We have lost another constant friend in the bundle. Russell Miller died this month. I send my condolences to his family, along with gratitude for all of the stories he gave us. We are so lucky to get to read all of these stories that the writers among us share with the group.
Thanks, everyone. Send me your October submissions!
Amateur journalism is a unique activity. Amateur journalists publish journals on paper & online & come from many perspectives: from deluxe letterpress printed journals, to Xeroxed newsletters, to artistically designed cards and ephemera. We embrace the spirit of being amateurs – loving what we do for pure joy and not financial gain – while creating top quality journals, zines, and homemade publications.
